Dear Roxbury Community;
At the October Board of Education meeting, Jeff Bennett announced that he will retire on December 31, 2022. Jeff has been our Superintendent since January 2020. Within three months of his appointment, schools were closed and we were tasked with creating a new form of instruction. Jeff worked tirelessly, often seven days a week, to guide us through the ever-changing COVID rules always keeping the needs of the students in the forefront. His efforts ensured that we were able to provide remote learning and meals to all throughout the crisis.
The Board wants to thank Jeff for his work here and we wish him well as he embarks on his next adventure.
Right now, the Board is working with our BOCES Superintendent, Catie Huber, to secure the services of an Interim Superintendent who can serve the district until a new Superintendent is appointed.
Once that need is met, the Board will make plans for the search for our next Superintendent. We have not yet had a chance to discuss what this process will look like. But one thing is certain: whatever form it takes, everyone's input will be vital in this search. We will want to know what qualities you want in the next Superintendent of Roxbury Central School.
Please stay tuned for more information.
