Dear Roxbury Central School families,
Over the last four days, blanket threats to school districts have been circulating on social media. Although RCS has not been explicitly named in these instances, we take even generalized statements seriously and have been working diligently in collaboration with neighboring districts, BOCES, and law enforcement to investigate their origin and ensure that our students, staff, and families are safe.
At this time, we have no reason to believe that the threats are credible. The safety of our students and staff remains our top priority as we continue with the important work of teaching and learning. We have reviewed and reinforced our safety procedures to maintain a secure learning environment. As an additional safety measure today, students will be staying inside for recess.
As always, we encourage you to stay vigilant and communicate with school leaders if you become aware of any potential concerns regarding student safety. We will keep you informed as we receive additional information.
While the State Police have confirmed that these threats have impacted over 100 schools, we want to emphasize that there has been no threat directed to Roxbury Central School. An Update from RCS
Good luck to our GCR soccer teams today as they take on Charlotte Valley in league action. The boys will be in Roxbury and the girls are on the road!
Tomorrow we will be holding our 5th fire drill. Students will be notified in the morning.
Picture day order forms have been handed out to all classroom teachers. If you would like to place an order online, you can do so by going to www.parkstudio.biz Once there, click on get my photos then on school prepays. From there you will need to find the school in the drop down menu and follow the prompts to place your order.
Reminder: This Thursday 9/19 will be our first noon dismissal. Students will be dismissed at 12:00.
There is work being done on our tennis courts and as a result they will be closed from now through Friday, October 4, 2024.
Good luck to both our GCR teams as they have their first league games tonight. Girls are in Stamford at Archibald field and the boys are in Gilboa.
Just a reminder, home games whether at Roxbury or Gilboa is self-transport after the game.
