Home schooling in the Roxbury Central School District

Parents considering homeschooling should read the New York State Regulations on Home Instruction. The regulations can be found at New York State Education Department: Home Instruction.

The NYSED Home Instruction Questions and Answers webpage addresses many of the common questions parents have about home schooling in New York State.

After reviewing the state's home instruction requirements, parents who wish to homeschool must submit a Notice of Intent to the Roxbury Central School District Office by July 1st of each school year, or within 14 days of beginning home instruction during the school year.

Once the district receives the Notice of Intent, they will provide links to New York State Regulation Part 100.10 on Home Instruction and the Individualized Home Instruction Plan (IHIP) form. The IHIP form, which is also available below, must be completed for each child of compulsory school age who will be home schooled.

In accordance with NYS Education Regulation Part 100.10(g), parents of home-instructed students are required to submit quarterly reports. Additionally, as outlined in Part 100.10(h), an annual assessment must be completed for each student. The following form is provided to assist parents in preparing the required quarterly reports.
